5 Interesting Compact
Study Spaces!
The temperatures are soaring in Bangalore resonating
with the rising anxiety levels of children appearing for exams.
March is synonymous with intense studies, and spaces devoted to it being used the maximum. Study spaces have come a long way from being just a table and a few book shelves for the child in the house. Furthermore, as increasing number of people choose to work from home, study spaces have evolved into home offices as well.
Space crunch is becoming the norm in most living spaces at present and effective usage of the same is the need of the hour.
Let us look at a few such interesting study spaces which
have used minimum space efficiently.
- Study area carved out of a wall unit
in one corner of a Living room.
A wall unit designed as a display unit for curio & books, with a small covered portion to double as a miniscule study. The covered shelf with shutters holds a computer, with a sliding tray below it to hold a keyboard. When not in use, the unit blends with the décor of the Living room.
- Study
unit in an alcove
Convert an alcove in any wall to a study with a small table and space for a computer. Storage for books is built into the vertical area above the writing surface. Other essentials can be housed in a couple of drawers below the writing surface.
- Study
camouflaged as a wardrobe in a room
One part of a deep Wardrobe can hold a study unit with shelves along the height for books, stationery and other study related material. Task lighting to light the writing surface and a couple of spot lights for the shelves illuminates the study space. Sliding folding shutters help disguise the contents when not in use.
- Study space accommodated below a stairwaySpace below a staircase can be effectively converted to a study area with astutely positioned table and shelves for storage. If width of the stairway permits, a folding shutter can also be added.
- Study unit as a space
divider
A floor to ceiling unit with pockets for working and storage makes an interesting divider for spaces aesthetically and functionally. It is an essential detail in studio and small apartments.
Wishing students, the very best for
their exams and adults, a happy working in an home environment, I take leave
for now.
Be back in 2 weeks!
