5 Essential Steps for a Trendy Clothing Boutique Design!

If you are contemplating on opening a Boutique, remember that a well-planned design and layout will greatly amplify your sales.
Your store must create a positive ambience and be welcoming to the customer, such that the customer leaves with a smile on their face!

The arrangement of items can be divided in terms of Theme of the Boutique, Style & Pricing of Clothing, etc. We have recently designed a Clothing Boutique and are Happy to share some Tips & Tricks with you!

Theme
  • Every Boutique should have a theme through which customers can recognize, from a plethora of other stores to visit.
  • For instance, using rich sunset colours creates a sophisticated atmosphere, or using light, bright yellows, greens and blues creates a fun atmosphere.
  • A high-quality carpet or wood flooring will create a more inviting feel than plain vitrified tile.

Space Planning & Circulation
  • Boutiques must have a free-form layout so that the customers meander around the clothing racks.
  • Your goal is to stimulate customers to enjoy looking through your stuff and making their search as efficient as possible.
  • This means avoiding straight aisleways that block the view from the other areas of the store. Smaller, circular racks combined with displays around encourage continued browsing.
  • Use focal points such as mannequin displays to create different sections of the store featuring specific product types. This will give an uncluttered look to your store.

Lighting
  • Lighting plays an important role in a Boutique. If a corner of your boutique is not well lit, that square footage is as good as lost.
  • Using a combination of track lights, lamps, sconces and picture lights not only ensures that your space is well lit, but also adds variety and flair to its character.
  • Accent or Spotlights can be used to draw attention to any product that you would like to showcase.

Display
  • Displaying items on different levels maximizes space and is visually appealing to customers.
  • Hanging shelves, mounting drapes and other items from ceiling to the floor, draws the attention upwards and creates the feeling of a larger space.
  • A variety of display units can be used to display your goods like tables, floor racks, wall shelves, pegboards, cabinets, aisle shelves, mannequins and kiosks.
  • Positioning kiosks in open spaces around the aisles helps the merchandise standout.

Furniture and Decor
  • Furniture of a boutique dictates the comfort of customers, and its placement either creates chaos or tranquility.
  • Placing of furniture in different spaces depends on necessity. Place the furniture outside the changing room for shoppers waiting for their turn, or at the centre of the room if your display layout is a "U" shaped one.
  • Furniture should be chosen such that it complements the boutique's theme without distracting from the merchandise. For instance, a Vintage Boutique can have a décor of Antique Chairs and Tables.
